Meet our Family
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Growing Up Without Borders site!
We are the Pattons, a family who turned a five-week European holiday in 2013 into an 11-year journey around the world. After traveling to 100+ countries together, we've recently slowed down our nomadic lifestyle and moved back to our roots to see what the future holds. While our days of constant travel are behind us, we're still planning smaller adventures and sharing our experiences to inspire other families to explore the world together.

Chantal
Hi, I'm Chantal! I'm the mom behind Growing Up Without Borders. Born and raised in Canada, I moved to Switzerland as a teenager where my dad was from.
Over the past 20 years, I've built a business that allowed our family to work from anywhere in the world. I handle the majority of our content creation - from filming and editing videos to managing brand partnerships and everything in between.
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me dancing, enjoying time with friends, or diving into whatever adventure comes our way. I'm always listening to uplifting messages from motivational speakers I follow - it keeps me motivated and positive!
What I love most about travel is discovering new places and connecting with locals to learn about their culture and food. As a mom on this journey, I get to experience the world alongside my daughters - there's nothing quite like sharing these adventures together!

Julia
Hey! I'm Julia, the eldest of the three sisters. I’m 21 years old with a passion for travel and trying new things.
I’ve been the one to create all our short-form content over the years. I’m outgoing and love sharing to the world.
Growing up traveling to 146 countries has taught me really to go with the flow and to expect the unexpected like going to college here in Canada. Some of my favourite countries are those that are Spanish like Mexico or Nicaragua.
When I'm not editing videos or studying, I love hanging out with friends, soaking in the sun, shopping, working out, and so forth. I love spreading happiness and joy wherever I go.

Angelique
Hi, I'm Angelique! I'm 19 and currently taking a 'gap' year while also helping out with Growing Up Without Borders and doing some web development stuff on the side. You might see more of my work in our sponsored content, as I help with creating the ad inserts for our videos.
After spending all my teenage years exploring the world, I have grown to take life on as it comes step by step. When you're always on the move without Wi-Fi or a steady community, you learn to adapt, get creative with what you do and how you spend your time. My sisters and I became best friends along the way, since we were all we had. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my friends online, baking a sweet treat (if I find a good kitchen), watching k-dramas, and drawing.
One thing people don't know about me is I have a knack for programming and solving problems in whichever way I can.
My favorite countries we have traveled to (there is too many to have just 1) is South Korea, Mexico, Switzerland (I am being biased on this one lol), and Thailand! I love these countries for the food, the culture, and the landscapes, they are definitely places I see myself returning to one day.

Chloe
Hey there! I'm Chloe, the youngest of the Patton sisters at 17. I'm currently working and figuring out what comes next after spending most of my life on the road.
Being the baby of the family during our travels meant I grew up with a unique perspective of how the world seems. I’ve had to adapt to change and learned step by step along the way. One of my favourite memories was when we got stuck in New Zealand during the pandemic, I loved every part of the country and I hope to someday go back.
Now that we've settled down, I'm exploring Canada where my parents grew up. It’s exciting and I can’r wait for what the future holds. At the moment I love cooking and dancing and I hope to find some instruments to play soon.
The coolest thing about growing up in 146 countries was meeting some of the nicest people, I believe every place you go it’s the people that make the experience and not the country itself.
