Here's something we didn't expect: everyone in Trinidad gets a nickname! Within minutes of arriving, locals had given us our own Trinidad nicknames. It's part of the warm, welcoming culture that makes visitors feel like family immediately.

Trying Authentic Indian Sweets

The Indian influence in Trinidad is strong, and we got to sample traditional sweets that taste like crispy sugar chips. These treats, imported directly from India, showcase how authentic cultural traditions have been preserved and celebrated in Trinidad.

The Largest Hanuman Statue Outside of India

Perhaps the most surprising discovery was encountering the largest Hanuman statue outside of India, right here in the Caribbean! This impressive monument speaks to the significant Indian heritage that makes Trinidad so culturally rich.
