Why visit Queenstown New Zealand 🇳🇿 ? Adventure Capital of the World!

Join us as we visit Queenstown, New Zealand - one of the most famous towns for adventure and ski tourism. Queenstown is renowned as the “Adventure Capital” of New Zealand and rated as one of the top holiday spots in the world.

In March 2020, just days after we arrived in Queenstown, the entire country moved to a level 4 lockdown. During this time we stayed at a home in the Fernhill area and enjoyed the stunning beauty of the region.

As businesses began to reopen, we relocated to an apartment hotel in town called Alexis. http://www.alexisqueenstown.co.nz/ From our base here we explored the area and discovered some of the top things to see and to do.

Queenstown truly is a scenic gem in the South Island of New Zealand. It is located in one of the most beautiful regions and offers year-round attractions. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and set against the dramatic Southern Alps, the most beautiful view in town is the Remarkables mountain range on the opposite side of the lake.

The town caters to tourists from a wide range of budgets, from backpackers to luxury travelers, and has all different types of stores and boutiques to discover in the downtown core. There is also a gondola ride and some amazing boat tours to enjoy including one on the classic TSS Earnslaw steamship called Lady of the Lake. Some of these boats even offer dinner cruises and overnight accommodation!

Just outside of town at Arthur's Point is the beautiful Edith Cavell Bridge overlooking the Shotover River. From here you can also embark on an epic river ride on a jet boat.

By far the most adventurous and cool thing to do is Bungee Jumping from the Kawarau Bridge Bungy Centre. We watched many brave souls take the plunge.

Next we took a bike tour from here to Arrowtown with Around the Basin. https://www.aroundthebasin.co.nz/ We enjoyed the magnificent scenery of local vineyards and had a really fun and challenging ride.

To end the day we visited Escape Quest and traveled back in time to solve a mystery during the gold rush. http://www.escapequest.co.nz/

One of the most beautiful drives from Queenstown is to Glenorchy. You'll see why in the video!

Also while in town don't forget to visit Queenstown Gardens which is perfect for a picnic, taking pictures and enjoying a walk along the lake.

Last, but not least, you can take it all in with an helicopter ride over the town and a flight to nearby Milford Sound, considered to be the 8th wonder of the world!
